MANILA, Philippines — A father and his son, who were allegedly involved in several homicide and kidnapping incidents, were killed after a shootout with police officers in Teresa, Rizal province on Wednesday night, Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) said on Thursday.

In a report, PNP-AKG chief Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo identified the suspects as Rodel Cabungcal Basi and his eldest son Romar Basi.

Estomo said that prior to the shootout, elements of the PNP-AKG Special Operations Unit were about to serve a search warrant against Rodel who was inside their house located at Sitio Ibabaw 2, Dulongbayan.

As law enforcers approached the home, the suspects opened fire, triggering the shootout. The shootout ended with the death of the suspects.

Seized from the scene were a shotgun, 9mm pistol, and cal .45 pistol, police said.

Police said the suspects were tagged in kidnapping incidents involving Indian nationals, robbery, gun-for-hire, murder and homicide cases in Rizal province.
