DAVAO CITY –– Two suspected communist New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed and another one captured in a clash with government forces in a remote village here on Wednesday, Sept. 9, a military official said Friday.

Lt. Gen Jose C. Faustino Jr., commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom), said troops of the 27th Infantry Battalion clashed with NPA rebels in Saloy, Calinan district here, which resulted in the death of two rebels and the capture of another. He said the wounded rebel had been rushed to the hospital.

“The culture of security in the city of Davao is indeed alive,” Faustino said.
“With the help of concerned residents, inhumane acts and possible atrocities against this peaceful city have been prevented.”
