Rain showers expected due to LPA, thunderstorms — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The trough or extension of the low pressure area (LPA) east of Aurora  will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Bicol region, Visayas, Caraga region, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula on Friday, according to the state weather  bureau.

The LPA was last spotted 980 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, according to the 4 a.m. weather update of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Sa ating analysis, nananatiling mababa ang tsansa nito na maging bagyo. Gayunpaman, patuloy pa rin tayong mag-antabay sa updates ng Pagasa ukol sa nasabing weather disturbance,” Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz said.

Based on Pagasa’s forecast, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Dela Cruz said the weather bureau spotted a tropical depression 2,010 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon but it is moving away from the Philippine area of responsibility.

The weather disturbance has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of 55 kph, and is moving northwest at 15 kph.

“There is a low chance that this will enter PAR. It is moving away from PAR so we are not expecting this to have any effect in our country’s landmass”, Dela Cruz said in the vernacular.

Baguio City: 16 to 25 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 24 to 35 degrees Celsius
Legazpi City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Iloilo City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
Cebu City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
Tacloban City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
Davao City: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius
