MANILA, Philippines — All public and private cemeteries in Mandaluyong will be closed during this year’s “Undas” season to prevent the gathering of people and avoid the further spread of the new coronavirus.

Mayor Menchie Abalos said in a text message that she had directed the city’s legal department to craft an executive order for the temporary closure of all private and public cemeteries in the city from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3.

Abalos reminded residents that the national government’s ban on mass gatherings remained in effect with Metro Manila still under a general community quarantine.
