Enrile, Pacquiao lined up for UV leadership program

SENATE President Juan Ponce Enrile. Vice President Jejomar Binay. Even Saranggani Rep. and People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao.

They are some of the political heavyweights scheduled to give lectures to 25 to 30 undergraduate students of the University of the Visayas (UV) on how to become future leaders and servants of Cebu province.

In a press statement, UV founder and Rep. Eduardo Gullas of Cebu’s 1st district said he wants to produce a new breed of leaders molded with a commitment to serve.

“The need of the hour is the production and development of servant leaders, one who are highly evolved and clearly motivated by service including service to the community,” Gullas said.

Under the program called Gullas Leadership Fellows Program sponsored by the UV Leadership Institute, 25 to 30 students will be mentored by some of the country’s government officials.

They include Enrile who will arrive in Cebu as a resource person on Jan. 28 and Transportation and Communications Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas on Feb. 29.

Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal will a lecturer on March 15.

Binay is scheduled to lecture on April followed by Pacquiao in May.

Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago will be available on July while columnist Juan Mercado will be on hand in August.

Sen. Manny Villar is scheduled for September; and businessman Jon Ramon Aboitiz on October.

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) chairman Eduardo “Danding” Cojuanco will lecture on November while the course will be concluded by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma in December.

The UV Leadership Institute is envisioned to be a center of learning and training for men and women of all ages to achieve their potentials as servants and leaders.
