Isko Moreno thanks BTS fan group for donations for Mali, Manila Zoo’s elephant
MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso thanked on Thursday a Filipino fan group of Jeon Jungkook, a member of K-pop sensation BTS, for its donation for Mali, Manila Zoo’s famous resident elephant.

Moreno took to Twitter to expressed his gratitude to the Golden Alliance PH fans club which donated food and other supplies for the elephant who has been living in the shuttered city zoo for more than 40 years.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa Golden Alliance PH, ang Pinoy fanbase ng K-pop idol na si Jeon Jungkook ng BTS dahil sa pag-dodonate nila ng mga pagkain at kagamitan para kay Mali, ang ating elephant sa Manila Zoo na inaalagaan din ng mga kawani natin mula sa Public Recreation Bureau,” the mayor said.
The Manila Public Information Office also posted on its Facebook page on Friday photos showing volunteers gathering at Mali’s enclosure to feed and bath the elephant.

Article continues after this advertisementThe zoo has been closed to visitors since January 2019 after the city government ordered it shut for being tagged as a major source of pollution in Manila Bay.
Wildlife advocates have been pushing for Mali’s transfer to an elephant sanctuary in Thailand where she will be in the company of other elephants.
