Magnitude 3.5 earthquake rattles Batanes

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3.5 earthquake rattled parts of Batanes Sunday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The earthquake struck at 6:18 a.m., 15 kilometers southeast of Sabtang town.

The tremor was of tectonic origin, and had a one-kilometer depth of focus.

Phivolcs said that the earthquake was also felt at Reported Intensity III in Sabtang, Uyugan and Ivana, Batanes, and Reported Intensity II in Basco and Mahatao, Batanes.

No aftershocks or damage are expected Phivolcs added.
