MANILA, Philippines — The new coronavirus infection in the Philippines jumped past 232,000 on Friday as the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 3,714 additional infections.
According to the health agency, 67,786 of the nationwide 232,072 total COVID-19 caseloads are deemed as “active” and that 90.7 percent of which are mild cases, 6.9 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are critical, and 0.9 percent are severe cases.
DOH also said that there are 1,088 new recoveries, bringing the sum of patients who recovered from the severe respiratory illness to 160,549 as of September 4.
On the other hand, DOH reported 49 additional fatalities and that the country’s death count now reached 3,737.
DOH further said that majority of the new cases were from Metro Manila with 1,797 new infections, followed by Negros Occidental with 390, Batangas with 248, Laguna with 247, and Cavite with 150 additional COVID-19 patients.
The DOH reported anew some adjustments in its official tally, saying it discovered and removed 40 duplicates in which 12 were previously tagged as recoveries.
