Negros Occidental gov, 20 staff members self-isolate after worker contracts COVID-19

BACOLOD CITY –– Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and about 20 of his staff members have gone on self-isolation after a utility worker at his office tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, said they would all be tested for COVID-19 on Sunday.

“The governor is doing well and is self-isolating as a precautionary measure against the spread of the virus,” Diaz said.

The Governor’s Office at the Capitol has also been closed for decontamination.

By Monday, when the test results are out, they would know if the Governor’s Office could reopen or not, Diaz said.

The Vice Governor’s Office and Sangguniang Panlalawigan legislative offices at the south wing of the Capitol are also on lockdown after a technical assistant of a board member tested positive for COVID- 19.
