MANILA, Philippines — Seventeen persons were arrested and now facing penalty of P130,000 for alleged installation of illegal wirings or electrical “jumper” in Iloilo.

In a statement, More Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) in Iloilo City said the arrest came after authorities conducted Oplan Valeria, an anti-jumper raid, in 156 out of 180 barangays in Iloilo.

MORE Power said over 300 kilometers of illegal electrical wirings were collected in the raid.

“Engineers estimate that the wirings, if placed one after the other in a straight line, would easily reach as long as 300 kilometers. If put on a weighing scale, all the wires could weigh no less than 10 tons,” read the statement.
