House of Representatives logs 60th case of COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives on Sunday reported its 60th case of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which involved a Congressional staffer.
“A Congressional staff [member] has tested positive for COVID-19. He last reported for work on August 17. He developed symptoms and got tested in the province,” House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales told reporters in a text message.
The latest COVID-19 case at the House also increased the active COVID-19 cases in the lower chamber to 14, Montales said.
On Saturday, the House recorded 57 total cases of COVID-19 but later clarified that the total count was at 59.
As of Aug. 29, Saturday, a total of 213,131 cases of coronavirus disease were reported nationwide. This includes 135, 101 recoveries and 3,419 deaths.
