MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Saturday paid his last respects to former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim before his inurnment.
The convoy with Lim’s remains passed by the Senate in Pasay City, where Sotto and Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Edgardo Rene Samonte met with the funeral hearse and bade their final goodbye to the late mayor.
Lim served as a senator in the 13th Congress from 2004 to 2007.
Lim also served as Manila mayor from 1992 to 1998, and from 2007 to 2013.
Aside from his stint as a senator and Manila mayor, Lim also served as chief of the Western Police District (Manila Police) director of the National Bureau of Investigation from 1989 to 1992, then as Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary from 1998 to 2001.
Lim, who was also known for his “Dirty Harry” image, died on Aug. 8 due to COVID-19. He was 90.
