COVID-19 invades Zambales maritime academy
BOTOLAN, ZAMBALES – A total of 14 Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) cadets tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of Saturday morning.
Dr. Noel Bueno, Zambales Provincial Health Director, said 337 cadets of the PMMA in San Narciso were among those tested in the province.
Medical workers have yet to establish how the cadets contracted the virus, but Bueno said the majority of them are non-Zambales residents.
Zambales has so far recorded 324 COVID-19 infections since the pandemic began – including 169 active cases, 154 recoveries and one death.
