Aquino to lead Coast Guard commandant turnover ceremony

MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III will lead the Philippine Coast Guard change of command ceremony on Tuesday, a Radyo Inquirer 990AM report said Monday.

Vice commandant for operations Real Admiral Edmund Tan will replace Admiral Ramon Liwag as commandant during the ceremony scheduled at 2:30 p.m. at the PCG headquarters.

A Dumaguete City native, Tan is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1980, and was one of the five Coast Guard officials considered for the post of commandant.

The report also said that the president signed Tan’s appointment papers last Friday.
