Drug suspect slain in shootout with Nueva Ecija cops
SAN JOSE CITY –– An alleged illegal drug peddler from Cabanatuan City was killed in a reported shootout with the police during a buy-bust operation here on Monday morning.
Police said the suspect, identified as Rafael Beltran “alias” Apeng, resisted arrest and fired shots at the lawmen after sensing he was dealing with an undercover agent, said Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno, city police chief.
Beltran was reportedly operating in Nueva Ecija and nearby areas.
Investigators recovered from the suspect a homemade .9mm pistol, eight sachets of “shabu” (crystal meth), and a motorcycle.
