CA confirms Parlade, Arevalo, 13 other AFP senior officers
MANILA, Philippines — The powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) on Monday swiftly approved the ad interim appointments and nomination of 15 senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
With three members of the CA physically present and 17 participating through video conference, the body confirmed the ad interim appointments and nomination of the senior officers, including that of AFP Southern Luzon Command chief Maj. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. and AFP spokesperson Maj. Gen. Edgardo Arevalo.
Before the CA’s plenary session, the body’s Committee on National Defense in a hearing deliberated on and recommended the approval of the ad interim appointments of the senior military officials.
During the CA panel’s hearing, some of the high-ranking military officials were asked by lawmakers on issues regarding recent calls to establish a revolutionary government, updates of the investigation into the fatal shooting of four Army intelligence officers in Sulu, as well as the on the maritime dispute with China.
