Zambales logs record-high 42 COVID-19 cases in single day spike

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES – Zambales recorded 42 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections on Friday (Aug. 21), a record high for the province since the pandemic began.

All of the new patients are workers of a power plant in Masinloc town, according to Noel Bueno, provincial health director. The surge of cases in Masinloc to 58 has prompted the lockdown of Barangay (village) Bani and Sitio (sub-village) Relocation in Barangay Taltal.

Zambales has a total number of 145 infections, 85 of which are active cases. About 59 patients have recovered with one recorded fatality.
