MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.5 earthquake hit waters off Cagayan on Friday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said the tremor was recorded at 9:41 p.m., with the epicenter located 18 kilometers northwest of Claveria town in Cagayan.
The quake, which was of tectonic origin, had a depth of 26 kilometers, it added.
Phivolcs further said that Intensity II was recorded in Bacarra in Ilocos Norte while Instrumental Intensity IV was recorded in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, and Instrumental Intensity I, in Vigan City.
Phivolcs said no damage and aftershocks may be expected from the temblor.
