MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the beauty store Elegant Fumes Beauty Products Inc.(EFBPI)  in Binondo which listed its address in one of its products as Manila, Province of China.

“We are requesting that an investigation be conducted on the business operations of EFPBI and if warranted, cause the filing of criminal complaints against the corporation and its officers and/or incorporation,” Moreno said in a letter sent to NBI officer-in-charge Eric Distor dated Aug. 20 but was released to the media on Friday.

“We are looking forward to your prompt response on this matter. We are willing to submit relevant documents in our possession which may aid your office in the investigation,” it added.

Moreno said the establishment sold products without the necessary permits as well as violated the Consumer Act of the Philippines and Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.

On Thursday, Manila’s Bureau of Permits shuttered four stalls of EFPBI inside a mall in Binondo after authorities found that the establishment’s products tagged Manila, Province of China as its address.
