‘Dami na namang disappointed,’ Sotto quips after Duterte’s ‘proof of life’

MANILA, Philippines — “Dami na namang disappointed.” (Many are left disappointed again.)

Such was the remark of Senate President Vicente Sotto III after Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Monday posted a photo of President Rodrigo Duterte with his family following rumors that the latter was flown to Singapore to undergo emergency treatment.

Sotto also criticized those who he said are wishing ill on the government even amid a pandemic following rumors about the President’s health.

“Bakit ba gustong gusto nila na may masamang mangyari sa gobyerno? Hirap na hirap na tayo, ganyan pa sila! Mga judgemental!!!” the Senate leader said in a Viber message to reporters.

Earlier, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the President’s health is “fine,” adding that the chief executive undergoes regular COVID-19 testing while being kept in “perpetual isolation.”

On Monday night, Go also posted a Facebook live where the President debunked rumors that he was flown to Singapore for medical treatment.

Duterte said he was in his hometown in Davao City “all along.”

Roque also announced that the President will address the nation to announce new quarantine classifications of Metro Manila and its nearby provinces. [ac]
