CITY OF MEYCAUAYAN—Unidentified assailants on Monday (Aug. 17) shot and killed a businessman who ran for mayor of the city but lost in last year’s elections, police said.

The victim, Ryan Afable Cayanan, 45, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the Meycauayan Doctor’s Hospital where he died while being treated, said Col. Bernardo Pagaduan, chief of the city police.

Pagaduan said Cayanan was driving a motorcycle when he was attacked by the gunmen around 12:30 p.m. along MacArthur Highway at the village of Banga here.
