MANILA, Philippines — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) will start offering next month free training for those who want to become contact tracers.
“We intend to initially train volunteers from local government units and large corporations as part of their contact-tracing strategies,” said Aniceto Bertiz III, Tesda deputy director general for partnerships and linkages.
Contact tracing is the identification, listing and follow-up of persons who may have come into close contact with a confirmed coronavirus case.
The program’s competency standards were developed by Tesda with the Department of Health-Health Human Resources Development Bureau and medical experts.
The 15-day contact-tracing training program will be conducted through the blended learning method consisting of online and offline learning with a face-to-face component as provided by the curriculum.
Trainees must have completed at least 10 years basic education, or be a holder of an alternative learning system certificate of completion equivalent to Grade 10.
