MANILA, Philippines — Senator Panfilo Lacson on Saturday said he hopes that there is no politics involved in the surrender of Abu Sayyaf Group sub-commander Anduljihad “Idang” Susukan.
“Huwag naman sana. Pag pinaghalo ang pulitika at terorismo, talo lahat tayo. Why? Politics has no logic and terrorism has no reason,” Lacson said in a tweet.
(I hope not. If we mix politics with terrorism, we will all lose.)

“We had sent the right message to the world that we mean business against terrorism with tough legislation in the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020. But we could be sending the wrong message if we allow politics into the mix, as in the case of Susukan,” the senator added.
This after Susukan was taken under police custody. It was Moro National Liberation Front chairman Nur Misuari who handed over the Abu Sayyaf leader in Davao City on Thursday night.
Susukan, who has arrest warrants for kidnapping, murder, illegal detention and frustrated murder, is now detained at Camp Crame’s Custodial Center in Quezon City.
