MANILA, Philippines — The Caloocan City government is implementing a color-coded quarantine pass system that will make it easier for authorities to regulate the movement of residents outside their houses during the modified enhanced community quarantine.
Under Executive Order No. 027-2020, Mayor Oscar Malapitan said that residents would be issued white, orange or green quarantine passes.
An orange or green pass may be used by those who need to buy food or medicine. Orange passes, however, may be used only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., and between 5 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sundays.
Holders of green passes, meanwhile, are allowed to leave their houses on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., and between 1:31 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sundays.
White for workers
Informal workers such as tricycle drivers and laborers will be given white quarantine passes that can be used daily, considering the nature of their work. Employees of offices, factories and other essential businesses, on the other hand, need only to show their company identification cards.
Malapitan asked residents for their cooperation, saying that following the color-coded quarantine pass system would help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the city.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the Caloocan health department had recorded 3,213 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 137 fatalities and 1,706 recoveries.
