PNP COVID-19 deaths climb to 12; new cases hit 27

MANILA, Philippines — Another police officer has died of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the total death toll in the Philippine National Police to 12.

The PNP said on Saturday the latest fatality was a 49-year-old policewoman from the PNP Finance Service who died on Aug. 4.

As of Aug. 7, the PNP said the total number of infections had climbed to 2,434 with the inclusion of 27 news cases mostly from the National Capital Region Police Office while 1,479 have recovered.
