Drug-peddling couple nabbed, 1 kilo of shabu seized in Lanao del Norte
ILIGAN CITY——-Authorities arrested on Friday, Aug. 7, a couple suspected of selling illegal drugs in Sultan Naga Dimaporo town in Lanao del Norte.
Lt. Anthony Paderanga, chief of the Sultan Naga Dimaporo police, identified the couple as Jamalodin Musa Odin and Asna Minalang Odin, who are residents of Calibao village.
They were arrested in Sigayan village following a buy-bust operation conducted by police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and Army personnel.
Paderanga said the couple and the police asset who served as poseur-buyer agreed to transact along the national highway amid heavy rains.
Seized from the couple was about a kilo of suspected crystal meth or shabu. It was wrapped in plastic and sealed with packaging tape.
Paderanga said the illegal drugs are valued at P6.8 million when sold on retail.
The couple was also caught in possession of the marked cash used in the entrapment.
Authorities also seized the motorcycle used by the couple in their alleged drug deals, and a mobile phone which could give the police a lead on the supplier of the meth, according to Paderanga.
Paderanga said the husband is an active member of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team and a drug ‘surrenderer’ in 2016 when the police first launched its nationwide Tokhang program.
