Bulacan pandemic restrictions: Curfew, ban on returning from Metro Manila
CITY OF MALOLOS—The people of Bulacan and one town in the province are facing more restrictions in a bid to stop or slow the transmission of SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
In the province, the local government planned enforce a curfew in all towns set from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to keep the streets empty and prevent coronavirus transmission.
Vice Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, Bulacan provincial board health committee chair, on Friday (Aug. 7) urged the provincial board to approve the resolution filed by Board Member Emelita Isidro-Viceo to place all of Bulacan’s 21 towns and three cities under a single curfew.
Bulacan reverted to stricter modified enhanced community quarantine from Aug. 4 to 18 as COVID-19 cases run berserk.
As of Thursday (Aug. 6) the province recorded 1,572 COVID-19 cases, with 50 deaths and 549 recoveries.
In the City of San Jose del Monte, the local government will allow residents with work in Metro Manila, where COVID-19 cases have gone out of control, to return only after nine days to check first if they contracted the virus in the metropolis, Mayor Arthur Robes said.
Robes asked residents, who are working in Metro Manila, to find a temporary place to stay outside Bulacan or arrange with their employers a stay-in deal so they won’t return to Bulacan on a daily basis.
The mayor said 48 percent of the town’s COVID-19 cases were acquired in Metro Manila while 39 percent were locally transmitted. Other cases were obtained from other regions and from still unknown places.
As of Friday (Aug. 7) the City of San Jose del Monte recorded 448 cases, 219 recoveries and 19 fatalities.
