Pasay cops nab man for stealing wooden door ‘to buy food’
MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested in Pasay City for allegedly stealing someone’s wooden door so he can sell it and buy food.
According to a report from the Pasay City police, the complainant saw the 31-year-old man stealing the door that measures 39 inches by 87 inches and is worth around P4,500, along the West Service Road in Barangay 201 at about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The man tried to escape from the residence of the complainant but he was cornered by concerned people who called the substation 9 of the Kalayaan Outpost for police assistance.
Police officers then proceeded at the area and brought the suspect to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Pasay City Police Station.
Citing information from the case investigator, the Southern Police District Public Information Office told INQUIRER.net that the owner had set aside this door for somehow having an antique value. The man reportedly took it from the owner’s place knowing that he could sell it for some cash.
