Ilocos Norte town rocked by 3.7-magnitude quake

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3.7 earthquake hit the waters near the town of Curimao in Ilocos Norte on Thursday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

According to Phivolcs’ latest bulletin, the tectonic movement was recorded 18 kilometers northwest of the said municipality at a depth of 14 kilometers below the ground.

Phivolcs said Instrumental Intensities were felt in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur (Intensity I) due to the temblor.

However, it also said damage to property because of the quake is unlikely as no aftershocks may likewise be expected.
