MANILA, Philippines — House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano is pushing for the swift passage of a bill seeking to create the Philippine Center for Disease Prevention and Control (PCDPC).
In a statement issued on Sunday, Cayetano said the PCDPC would help protect Filipinos from any health crisis that should arise.
The center will ramp up efforts and become “decisive in implementing the communicable disease control and prevention initiatives.”
Albay Rep. Joey Salceda had already filed House Bill No. 6096 seeking to create the PCDPC as an agency attached to the Department of Health (DOH).
Cayetano said the establishment of the center would be is in compliance with Congress’ efforts to improve health care services.
