LEGAZPI CITY – A drug suspect was killed while another one was arrested in separate buy – bust operations in Camarines Sur Sunday morning.
Police Colonel Roderico Roy Jr., Camarines Sur police chief, said Joemar Caponga was killed after he drew his .9mm pistol and fired at an undercover police officer at around 5:40 a.m. in Barangay San Francisco in Baao town.
Days earlier, Caponga, who was in the police drug watch list, was the subject of a police operation at his residence in Barangay Mabolo, Naga City on Friday night but eluded arrest.
Police, however, recovered from his residence four sachets of shabu (crystal meth) worth an estimated P120,000.
Baao town is about 35 kilometers from Naga City, the provincial capital.
In a separate operation, drug suspect Edwin Almuete, 41, was arrested in Barangay Concepcion Pequeña in Naga City at around 2:30 a.m., according to Police Master Sergeant Tobias Bongon, spokesperson of the Naga City police.
Almuete was caught with a sachet of suspected shabu worth P500.
