MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 6.4 earthquake rocked Cotabato City before dawn Sunday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The earthquake struck at 1:08 a.m. at 13 kilometers southeast of Cotabato City.
The tremor was of tectonic origin, and had a 543 – kilometer depth of focus.
Phivolcs said that the earthquake was felt in other areas at various intensities:
Instrumental Intensity II – Alabel and Malungon, Sarangani
Instrumental Intensity I – Tupi, General Santos City and Koronadal City, South Cotabato; Kiamba, Sarangani
Phivolcs warned residents of possible aftershocks.
