Region 12 has 25 new COVID-19 cases, its highest single-day tally
COTABATO CITY, Maguindanao, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) in the Soccsksargen region recorded on Friday 25 new cases of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the highest single-day count so far.
The new cases raise the regional tally to 285.
In a situation report, the DOH also announced that 12 patients had recovered from the disease and had been reunited with their loved ones.
The new cases were individuals who returned to the region from Metro Manila through the national government’s “Hatid Tulong” program.
Of the 25 new cases, 12 are from South Cotabato, six from Sultan Kudarat, five from Cotabato province, and two from General Santos City.
Of the 12 patients who recently recovered, eight are in Sarangani and two apiece in South Cotabato and Cotabato provinces.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, the region’s main COVID-19 referral hospital, remained under disinfection and decontamination.
Article continues after this advertisementOnly emergency and life-threatening cases are accepted there as its workforce are under quarantine. Two of its 1,400 employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
