Navotas fish port closed for disinfection

/ 04:05 AM August 01, 2020

Navotas Fish Port Complex (NFPC), which supplies 70 percent of the fish requirements of Metro Manila, will be closed for 24 hours, for disinfection.

The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority said the fish port would be temporarily shut down from 1 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday. Operations will resume on Sunday afternoon.

“The said activity is a necessary safety and preventive measure at [NFPC] to ensure a clean and safe [facility], to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 at the fish port and for the safety of those who work there,” the agency said. Navotas City, where the fish port is located, has recorded 1,898 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday. —Nikka G. Valenzuela
