Caloocan City’s Barangay 142 on 1-week total lockdown as COVID cases rise
MANILA, Philippines — Barangay 142 in Caloocan City is under lockdown for seven days after recording 28 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, Mayor Oscar Malapitan said on Friday.
In an advisory on Facebook, Malapitan said the lockdown will start from August 1, Saturday at 12:01 a.m. to August 7, Friday at 11:59 p.m.

Malapitan vowed that residents will receive food packs and other basic goods during the lockdown period.
“Katulad ng mga barangay na isinailalim natin sa total lockdown, hindi natin pababayaan ang ating mga residente at sila ay makakatanggap ng relief packs at iba pang pangunahing pangangailangan,” he said.
(Like other villages placed under lockdown, we will not neglect our residents. They will be provided with relief packs and other essential goods.)
Article continues after this advertisementThe Caloocan City police will provide security for residents while the city health department will contact tracing of COVID-19 patients, Malapitan said.
As of July 30, Caloocan logged 2,738 COVID-19 cases, including 1,526 recoveries and 116 deaths.
