M’due hosts Liga today

THE MANDAUE-Cebu Landmasters/RDAK will be out to prove that their title in the Liga Pilipinas 2nd leg was no fluke as they host the fourth leg starting today at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

The Landmasters will be staking their undefeated record against a packed field led by the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños, who are out for vengeance. Also competing are 3rd leg champions Laguna Golden Lions and perennial powerhouse Misamis Oriental Meteors.

First to rest the mettle of the Landmasters today are the Golden Lions, whom they will face at 6:30 p.m. The Niños open up hostilities with a match against bitter rivals MisOr Meteors at 4 p.m.

Mandaue’s charge will be led by a host of former Niños in 2nd leg MVP, Mark Magsumbol, Ariel Capus, Marlon Basco and Hafer Mondragon. New to the squad are guards Vernini Tangarorang and Leo Losentes.

The Niños are pacing the six-team field with a total of 22 points from two legs.

While Mandaue and Cebu duke it out, the Meteors and Golden Lions also have some issues to settle on the court after the Golden Lions of Gov. ER Ejercito and newly appointed coach Philip Cezar successfully defended their home turf at the San Luis Sports Complex in taking the Laguna Leg over the Meteors, 94-92, last May 28./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
