‘They can’t even touch me’: Mayor tests positive for coronavirus for 2nd time

TUGUEGARAO CITY–Mayor Carmelo Villacete, of Piyat town, Cagayan province, tested positive for a second time for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, on Wednesday (July 29).

Villaceta, on a social media post, announced that he was again experiencing COVID-19 symptoms like cough and sore throat starting last July 24.

Respiratory samples were tested and yielded positive results for the mayor last July 29. Health workers immediately carried out contact tracing.

Villacete first contracted the virus last April 2 but had recovered after one week.

“It pains me to say goodbye as they see me go,” said the mayor on his social media post.

“They can’t even touch me,” he said.

“My home for the next 14 days, if ever I survive again, is the COVID section,” Villacete said.
