16 in Bataan religious gathering test positive for coronavirus
BALANGA CITY—A religious gathering at the Balanga Plaza Hotel here is emerging as an infection cluster after 16 people who attended it tested positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, according to records at the provincial health office on Tuesday (July 28).
According to the health office, a relative of a COVID-19 patient joined the gathering without knowing he was infected.
This prompted Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia to caution residents against mass gatherings in the province.
Ten other new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the towns of Mariveles, Orion, Limay and Dinalupihan on the same day.
Tuesday’s tally was among the highest in COVID-19 cases recorded in a single day in the province.
