MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Manila on Monday sent out two mobile COVID-19 testing facilities that would ramp up its free mass testing in its communities.
In a statement, the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) said one of the mobile trucks was dispatched along Nepomuceno Street in Barangay 97, Tondo while the other was parked in Barangay 836, Pandacan.
The local government said the mobile truck uses serology testing machines that can collect 100 blood samples daily. Members of Manila Health Department, Manila Barangay Bureau and Manila Disaster Risk Reduction will conduct the tests, the Manila PIO added.
The two mobile trucks will be deployed to two different barangays in the capital city per day to intensify community-based testing, the PIO said.
In another Facebook post, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said the new mobile trucks will help in aggressive tracing and detection of COVID-19 patients in the city.
To recall, the local government already opened four COVID-19 testing facilities with free services for residents and non-residents. Of the four, two are drive-thru testing centers while two are walk-in facilities.
