Silay City hospital suspends admission after 3 doctors contract COVID-19

BACOLOD CITY –– A hospital in Silay City has suspended admissions after three of its doctors tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH), however, continued to handle operations and emergency services, said Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.

Emergency cases are being attended to inside a tent located at the hospital grounds while the emergency room is being disinfected.

Diaz said all nurses and medical technicians of the hospital tested negative for the virus.

The TLJPH molecular laboratory, he said, continues to conduct COVID-19 tests.

The laboratory has conducted 18,252 tests since June 1, with 422 people testing positive for COVID-19, while the rest were found to be negative.

The TLJPH laboratory conducts 750 to 800 COVID-19 tests a day.
