MANILA, Philippines – The United States has donated an additional P11.4 million worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) sets and medical supplies to several hospitals in 11 cities across the country, its embassy in Manila said.
The supplies consist of various face protection, infrared thermometers, disposable gloves, masks, and medical clothing, the US Embassy in Manila said in a statement on Monday.
According to the embassy, the PPE sets and medical supplies will be distributed to 16 different medical facilities in Palawan, Batangas, Pampanga, Cebu, Sulu, Maguindanao, Zamboanga del Sur, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Misamis Oriental, and Lanao del Norte.
“The latest delivery of U.S. government assistance for Filipino frontliners in the battle against COVID-19 is a testament to our ongoing commitment to help the Philippines defeat the pandemic,” U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim said.
The donation was delivered to the Philippines by U.S. Army and Marine Corps service members in cooperation with the Department of Civil Defense and the Department of Health.
This fresh batch of donations brought the amount of U.S. assistance provided to the Philippines for its COVID-19 response to a total of P989 million, the embassy noted.
Recently, the U.S. donated P14.8 million worth of PPEs to the Philippine General Hospital and other COVID-19 treatment centers all over the country. Jim Mendoza
