P1.7-B rehab of Manila Zoo starts
MANILA, Philippines — The rehabilitation of the shuttered Manila Zoo — which was tagged a major pollutant of Manila Bay by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources — began on Saturday, the 61st anniversary of the zoo.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso led the groundbreaking ceremony of the revival of the decades-old attraction on Adriatico Street in Malate.
The rehabilitated zoo would feature a big cat enclosure, a Philippine endemic marsupial exhibit, a monkey enclosure and a restaurant. The P1.7-billion project is set to be completed in 19 months.
