Ex-PSG commander is new military intel chief
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed the former head of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) as the new military intelligence chief.
Brig. Gen. Jose Eriel Niembra is the new Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines chief, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said on Saturday.
Niembra, who replaced Brig. Gen. Oliver Artuz, headed the PSG from May 2018 to February 2020. He was deputy commander of Task Force Davao when Duterte was the city mayor.
