CABANATUAN CITY – A health worker, a hog trader, and a lawyer have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), raising the number of cases in this city to 64 as of July 24.
According to the city information and tourism office, the 55-year-old meat dealer from Barangay Aduas Sur has been nursing a fever due to what was initially diagnosed as pneumonia, had difficulty breathing, and has persistent coughs.
The hog trader has been commuting to the Sangitan Public Market where some infections have been monitored.
The 31-year-old healthcare worker from Barangay Magsaysay Sur had been coughing and suffered nasal congestion, but the 50-year-old lawyer of Sumacab Este village was asymptomatic. The lawyer had traveled to Manila and Makati City.
Of the confirmed cases in Cabanatuan, 31 have recovered.
The total number of COVID-19 cases throughout Nueva Ecija province is 166, of which 75 have recovered, while 84 patients are currently being treated. The disease has claimed the lives of seven Nueva Ecija residents since the pandemic struck. ARMAND GALANG
