8 La Union residents, including minors, contract COVID-19

DAGUPAN CITY – Eight residents of San Fernando City in La Union province have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), including minors who caught the disease from ailing patients, based on laboratory results released on July 23 and 24.

Three young girls, aged 6, 10 and 16-years-old, have been isolated after they were exposed to a 67-year-old patient who died from the disease on July 19, according to Mayor Alfredo Pablo Ortega,

A fourth patient is a 17-year-old boy, who contracted the virus from a patient who was infected by a 74-year-old man who died on July 12 in Barangay (village) San Agustin which is under a heightened community quarantine.

The four other patients in the city are a 33-year-old woman from Pagdaraoan village, a 51-year-old man from Sevilla village, a 44-year-old man from Langcuas village and a 40-year-old woman from Madayegdeg village.

San Fernando is under an enhanced community quarantine. The city has 28 COVID-19 patients, four of whom have recovered. Six of the active cases are confined at local hospitals, while 15 have been staying in an isolation facility.

The last patient is under home quarantine. The city has recorded two fatalities.
