CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The chips are falling for Kapa founder Joel Apolinario, who was arrested in Lingig town, Surigao del Sur last Tuesday.

After the Kapa main office in Alabel town of Sarangani province was ransacked last Wednesday, unidentified men also ransacked his resort on Samal Island in Davao del Norte on Friday morning.

Officials said the suspects, who appear to be familiar with the layout of the one-hectare resort, were able to get away with P180,000 cash.

Col. Alexis Noel Bravo, commander of the Army’s Task Force Samal, said P100,000 came from Apolinario’s parents,  who have been staying in the resort.

The remaining P80,000 came from the caretakers of Sea Escape Resort in Sitio Tambang of Barangay Adecer, in the Island Garden City of Samal.

“The suspects were very familiar with the place and they were looking for the money they believed to be hidden by Joel Apolinario,” Bravo said.

Citing the account of the caretakers, Bravo noted that the dogs did not bark when the suspects entered the resort around 1 a.m. on Friday.
