5 new COVID-19 patients in Cagayan Valley: 4 stranded persons, 1 OFW

CITY OF ILAGAN–Five new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Cagayan Valley on Wednesday (July 22), raising to 239 the total tally of coronavirus infections in the region, health officials said.

Four of the patients were individuals who had been stranded in Metro Manila, where the surge of infections is unabated, and headed for the town of Solana, Cagayan province. The fifth is an overseas Filipino worker who came home to the town of Penablanca, also in Cagayan, from Saudi Arabia.

The four persons returning to Solana were aged 29 to 46 and had arrived in their hometown aboard a private car on July 20 after being stranded in Taguig City. They had shown no symptoms and are now on quarantine.

The OFW arrived in the country on June 26 but returned home in Cagayan on July 15.
