CEBU CITY –– At least 50 “housemates” in one of the country’s oldest government-owned drug rehabilitation centers in Argao town, south Cebu tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

They have been isolated to contain the spread of the virus, said Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, spokesperson of the Department of Health in Central Visayas.

The health department was still gathering data to determine the specific condition of the patients.

The Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (TRC), which was established in 1984, has about 300 beds. Loreche said the TRC “housemates” may have contracted the virus through community transmission or from staff members of the facility.
