CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—An 18-story high traffic control tower will be built by the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) for the Clark International Airport (CRK).
The P375-million tower will be the tallest in the country, CIAC President and Chief Executive Officer Aaron Aquino said in a statement.
Aquino said the control towers of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport stand at 40 meters and 30m respectively.
Aquino said CRK’s airfield ground lighting system will be improved at a cost of P500 million.
He said the budgets for these design-and-build projects were approved in the General Appropriations Act of 2020 in the account of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to which the CIAC is a subsidiary.
BCDA has funded the P15-billion passenger terminal that is slated to be operational in January 2021 for 8 million passengers yearly.
