Suspicious bag outside Senate contains wires used by media crew—NCRPO

MANILA, Philippines—Police were alerted Thursday after a suspicious bag was found at the entrance of the Senate Building in Pasay City but what was initially feared to be an explosive device turned out to be wires used by media crew covering the fourth day of the impeachment trial, a police spokesman said.
In a text message, National Capital Region Police Office spokesman Superintendent Danino Pecano said that elements of the Explosives and Ordnance Division/SWAT of the Pasay City Police station rendered safety procedure upon the discovery of the suspicious luggage and determined that it contained wires used by a media crew.

The bag was found outside the Senate building an hour before the resumption of the impeachment proceedings against Chief Justice Renato Corona.

The EOD team has custody of the said bag, Pecano said.

It is being determined which media group owns the bag as no other details are available as of posting time.
